  • Applications

1-Decene (CAS 872-05-9) is a linear alpha-olefin widely used as an intermediate and co-monomer: it is oligomerized to polyalphaolefins (PAO) for high-performance synthetic lubricants with excellent thermal stability and low-temperature flow; used as a comonomer with ethylene to tailor density, toughness, and clarity in specialty polyethylene and polyolefin elastomers; converted via hydroformylation/hydrogenation to C11 alcohol (1-undecanol) for surfactants, plasticizers, and fragrance intermediates; can be epoxidized, sulfonated, or chlorinated to make monomers/additives for coatings, adhesives, detergents, and drilling-fluid packages; and it serves as an alkylating agent for specialty linear alkylbenzenes, a chain-transfer/branching agent in radical polymerizations, and a carrier/solvating medium for additive packages.
