    Verbenol (CAS 473-67-6) là một monoterpenoid alcohol có mùi gỗ thông-camphor đặc trưng, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm thành phần hương trong nước hoa, chất khử mùi, sản phẩm chăm sóc nhà cửa và cá nhân để mang lại sắc thái tươi mát, nhựa thông và thảo mộc; trong bảo vệ thực vật và lâm nghiệp, các đồng phân cis/trans của verbenol đóng vai trò bán hoá chất/pheromone của nhiều loài mọt vỏ cây (ví dụ các loài Ips và Dendroctonus), vì vậy được dùng làm mồi nhử trong bẫy giám sát quần thể, hỗ trợ chiến lược quản lý dịch hại kiểu pull hoặc push-pull và nghiên cứu sinh thái học côn trùng; trong hoá tổng hợp, verbenol là nguyên liệu trung gian từ nguồn sinh học (tinh dầu/turpentine) để chuyển hoá thành verbenone và các dẫn xuất bicyclic khác, đồng thời là khối xây dựng bất đối xứng hữu ích cho tổng hợp dược chất và agrochemical; trong phân tích môi trường-khí quyển, nó thường được dùng làm chuẩn tham chiếu trong GC/GC-MS để theo dõi quá trình oxy hoá α-pinene, sự hình thành verbenone và aerosol hữu cơ thứ cấp, cũng như nghiên cứu phát thải hợp chất mùi từ gỗ và cây lá kim; ngoài ra, verbenol còn góp phần tạo sắc thái hương vị ở mức vi lượng trong thực phẩm/đồ uống và xuất hiện trong nến thơm, sáp thơm và các chất tẩy rửa mang chủ đề “pine/forest”.
