    Pinocarvone (CAS 16812-40-1) là một monoterpen keton hình thành khi α-pinene bị oxy hóa trong tinh dầu cây lá kim; chất này được ứng dụng hoặc nghiên cứu trong: (1) hương liệu–nước hoa, tạo sắc thái thông, gỗ, long não, hơi bạc hà cho nước hoa, chất tẩy rửa, chất khử mùi, nến và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân; (2) xây dựng mùi kỹ thuật, tinh chỉnh “pine note” cho hỗn hợp nguồn turpentine và sản phẩm làm sạch công nghiệp; (3) tiêu chuẩn phân tích và hóa học khí quyển, làm chất đánh dấu/đối chứng cho nghiên cứu oxy hóa monoterpen, sự hình thành aerosol hữu cơ thứ cấp và động học phản ứng với ozone/NO3•; (4) trung gian tổng hợp hữu cơ, tận dụng khung bicyclic và nhóm keton cho các biến đổi như khử, tạo oxime, Baeyer–Villiger để tiếp cận dẫn xuất hương và vật liệu sinh học; (5) sàng lọc hoạt tính sinh học, đã được khảo sát in vitro về tính kháng vi sinh, tác động côn trùng và allelopathy trong bảo vệ thực vật, tuy nhiên kết quả phụ thuộc mô hình thử nghiệm; mọi ứng dụng liên quan thực phẩm/dược phẩm hoặc tuyên bố chức năng cần đánh giá độc tính, kiểm soát độ tinh khiết enantiomer và tuân thủ quy định.
