    Pinocarveol, trans-(−)- (CAS 547-61-5) là một rượu monoterpen tự nhiên có mùi thông, xanh, hơi thảo mộc, được sử dụng rộng rãi trong công nghiệp hương liệu và nghiên cứu. Trong nước hoa và mỹ phẩm, nó vừa là chất tạo mùi vừa là chất điều biến hương, mang lại cảm giác rừng thông tươi và độ “lift” cho các cấu trúc fougère, chypre, citrus–woody, đồng thời cải thiện khả năng khuếch tán trong xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, chất khử mùi, xịt phòng và nến thơm theo định vị thiên nhiên. Trong thực phẩm và đồ uống, trans-(−)-pinocarveol có thể dùng ở mức phù hợp để gợi sắc thái nhựa thông–thảo mộc trong kẹo bạc hà, hương bạc hà rừng, đồ uống thảo mộc và nền cam quýt, với điều kiện tuân thủ quy định an toàn và tiêu chuẩn hương liệu hiện hành. Về hóa học, nó là khung xương bất đối xứng/tiền chất cho tổng hợp các dẫn xuất terpen (qua este hóa, oxy hóa hoặc biến đổi chọn lọc theo cấu hình), đồng thời làm chất chuẩn tham chiếu cho GC/MS, LC và sắc ký đối quang, chuẩn nội/ngoại cho hiệu chuẩn cảm quan, cũng như chất đánh dấu trong nghiên cứu hóa học khí quyển về oxy hóa monoterpen và hình thành aerosol hữu cơ thứ cấp.
