    Phenethyl alcohol (CAS 60-12-8) là một chất lỏng thơm tự nhiên có hương hoa hồng dịu, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm chất điều hương chủ đạo trong nước hoa cao cấp, xà phòng mỹ phẩm, dầu gội và kem dưỡng, đồng thời đóng vai trò như dung môi thân thiện sinh học giúp ổn định và khuếch tán các tinh dầu dễ bay hơi; trong công nghiệp thực phẩm đồ uống, nó được dùng như chất tạo hương quả-hoa và chất cải thiện hậu vị cho kẹo, đồ nướng, rượu vang; khả năng ức chế vi khuẩn nấm mốc của Phenethyl alcohol còn cho phép nó được sử dụng như chất bảo quản nhẹ cho dung dịch thuốc nhỏ mắt, thuốc tiêm, các chế phẩm chăm sóc da nhạy cảm và dung dịch bảo quản mô tế bào; mặt khác hợp chất này còn là tiền chất tổng hợp một số ester thơm và dược chất, là chất chuẩn phân tích hương liệu, chất tăng độ nhớt trong mực in, và phụ gia cải thiện độ bóng cho polyme, nhựa hoặc vecni cao cấp.
