    p-Mentha-1,3,8-triene (CAS 18368-95-1) là một monoterpen hydrocarbon có mùi thơm tươi, thảo mộc–citrus, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm thành phần hương trong nước hoa, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, chất khử mùi và vật phẩm xông phòng để tăng độ sáng, tươi và độ lan tỏa của nốt đầu; làm chất tạo hương thực phẩm ở liều rất thấp để gia cố sắc thái cam chanh, bạc hà hoặc gia vị (tùy quy định địa phương); làm dung môi sinh học nguồn gốc terpene cho nhựa, dầu và sáp trong chất tẩy rửa, dung dịch vệ sinh công nghiệp và mực in; đóng vai trò nguyên liệu trung gian trong tổng hợp các terpen oxy hóa (ví dụ hydrat hóa/epoxy hóa để tạo rượu terpene), chuyển hóa thành p-cymene qua quá trình thơm hóa, hoặc gắn chức trên polymer/silicone bằng phản ứng ene/hydrosilyl hóa; được khảo sát làm chất xua đuổi/diệt côn trùng có nguồn gốc thực vật và là thành phần góp phần vào hoạt tính kháng vi sinh của một số tinh dầu trong công thức bảo quản tự nhiên; đồng thời được dùng như chất chuẩn phân tích trong GC/GC–MS để định tính định lượng và kiểm soát chất lượng tinh dầu, hương liệu và sản phẩm tiêu dùng; lưu ý chất dễ bay hơi, dễ cháy và có xu hướng tự oxy hóa tạo peroxid, do đó thường được bảo quản kín, tránh sáng/oxy và có chất chống oxy hóa khi cần.
