    gamma-Gurjunene (CAS 22567-17-5) là một sesquiterpene hydrocarbon có hương gỗ, balsamic và hơi đất, xuất hiện tự nhiên trong dầu gurjun và nhiều tinh dầu gỗ nhiệt đới; trong công nghiệp hương liệu - mỹ phẩm, nó được dùng như thành phần mùi/điều biến hương để gia tăng chiều sâu, độ ấm và độ bền cho nước hoa, nến, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa và chất khử mùi, đồng thời có thể hiện diện ở mức vết như thành phần hương tự nhiên thông qua tinh dầu được phép dùng trong thực phẩm; trong hóa phân tích, gamma-gurjunene đóng vai trò chất chỉ dấu nguồn gốc và chất chuẩn GC-MS để giám định tính xác thực/phát hiện pha trộn tinh dầu (đặc trưng cho balsam gurjun và một số tinh dầu gỗ); trong R&D, khung hydrocarbon này là nguyên liệu cho các biến đổi chọn lọc (hydro hóa/oxy hóa) nhằm thu nhận dẫn xuất mùi mới, và các tinh dầu giàu gurjunene đã được khảo sát ở mức tiền lâm sàng về hoạt tính kháng vi sinh vật, chống oxy hóa và xua côn trùng, với mọi ứng dụng thực tế cần đánh giá an toàn, độ ổn định và tuân thủ quy định (ví dụ IFRA, REACH) theo từng thị trường.
