    Delta-Guaiene (CAS 3691-11-0) là một sesquiterpen hydrocacbon có mùi gỗ trầm, khói và balsamic, thường gặp trong tinh dầu trầm hương và hoắc hương; trong công nghiệp hương liệu nó được dùng làm thành phần nền và chất cố định mùi trong nước hoa cao cấp, xà phòng, nến và hương đốt, để tái tạo/nhấn mạnh các phối hương gỗ, oriental, chypre và agarwood–patchouli; trong hương thực phẩm ở mức vết để bổ sung sắc thái gỗ ấm cho thuốc lá, đồ uống hoặc sản phẩm rang–xông khói; trong phân tích–kiểm nghiệm nó là chỉ dấu tự nhiên và chất chuẩn GC–MS để giám định, định lượng và kiểm soát chất lượng tinh dầu trầm/hoắc hương, cũng như nghiên cứu biến đổi hương khi ủ/lão hóa; trong nghiên cứu sinh học–hóa sinh, delta-guaiene được sử dụng để khảo sát con đường sinh tổng hợp sesquiterpen ở Aquilaria/Pogostemon, hóa sinh mùi và tương tác sinh thái của hợp chất bay hơi, đồng thời là tiền chất/điểm khởi đầu để tổng hợp dẫn xuất oxy hóa (ví dụ guaienol) phục vụ điều chế tông mùi gỗ phức hợp; ngoài ra hoạt tính kháng vi sinh vật và chống oxy hóa ở mức in vitro đã được báo cáo, dù chưa nhằm mục đích y tế.
