    cis-beta-Copaene (CAS 18252-44-3) là một sesquiterpen tự nhiên có mặt trong nhiều tinh dầu; trên thực tế, nó chủ yếu được dùng làm chất chuẩn phân tích và chất tham chiếu hương liệu: chuẩn GC–MS/GC×GC để xây dựng thư viện chỉ số lưu, thẩm định hiệu năng cột (kể cả cột đối quang), định lượng/hồ sơ hóa terpenoid và xác thực tinh dầu/dược liệu nhằm phát hiện pha trộn; trong R&D hương liệu – thực phẩm, nó được xem như thành phần tham chiếu cho sắc thái gỗ – nhựa – gia vị và là “khối xây dựng” để thiết kế accord mới, dù ứng dụng trực tiếp còn hạn chế vì nguồn cung và độ ổn định; trong sinh thái – nông nghiệp, nó được khảo sát như một phần của tổ hợp bán hóa chất ảnh hưởng tới hành vi ruồi đục quả (Tephritidae) và các tương tác cây – côn trùng; trong hóa sinh – tổng hợp, nó là mục tiêu/mẫu mô hình để nghiên cứu sesquiterpene cyclase, cơ chế tái sắp xếp carbocation và tối ưu hóa tách đối quang; trong dược liệu – metabolomics, chất tinh khiết được dùng làm đối chứng khi sàng lọc in vitro các hoạt tính điển hình của sesquiterpen và để chú giải tín hiệu omics; ngoài ra còn được theo dõi như VOC từ phát thải thực vật và sản phẩm tinh dầu trong môi trường trong nhà.
