    Carveol, cis-(-)- (CAS 1197-06-4) là một alcohol monoterpenoid đối quang được ưa chuộng trong hương liệu – gia vị nhờ sắc thái mát, bạc hà, thảo mộc, hơi gỗ và citrus, giúp tinh chỉnh và gia cố cảm giác “green–minty” trong nước hoa (citrus, fougère, herbal), mỹ phẩm, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, sản phẩm khử mùi và đồ dùng không khí; trong thực phẩm, nó được dùng ở mức vết–thấp để làm tròn hương bạc hà/rau thơm và cân bằng vị đắng. Ở dược–nhóm nghiên cứu, cis-(-)-carveol được khảo sát về đặc tính kháng khuẩn/kháng nấm, chống oxy hóa, xua đuổi côn trùng và như chất tăng thấm da; trong hóa học tổng hợp, nó là nguyên liệu thuận tiện để tạo ester (ví dụ carveyl acetate) và các dẫn xuất terpenoid hoặc làm khối xây dựng đối quang cho phản ứng bất đối xứng, đồng thời được dùng làm chuẩn tham chiếu trong sắc ký phân giải đối quang và nghiên cứu cảm quan.
