Applications
(Z)-Ocimenol (CAS 39900-51-1) is a monoterpene alcohol with fresh green, herbal, and floral–citrus facets, used primarily as a top-note modifier and green–fresh booster in fine fragrances, personal care (shampoos, body washes, deodorants) and home care (cleaners, air care, candles), where it brightens citrus–herbal–leafy accords, enhances diffusion, and adds naturality; in flavor and botanical aroma work it is applied to reconstitute the profiles of mint/basil/oregano/coriander-type essential oils and in diffuser/aromatherapy blends to add crisp freshness; technically, it serves as a convenient building block for esterification and other transformations to create aromatic terpenoid derivatives, and as a reference/marker in QC, authenticity control of essential oils, and shelf-life aroma studies; additionally, its high volatility and typical monoterpene-alcohol bioactivity support use as a deodorizing booster in hygiene and cleaning fragrances, and it is studied as a plant volatile semiochemical in agro-related research; all applications are subject to local regulations and safety limits (e.g., IFRA), and the material should be stored tightly closed, protected from light/oxidation, optionally with antioxidant, to preserve olfactory integrity.
