Applications
(Z)-Lanceol (CAS 10067-29-5) is a terpenoid alcohol with a woody–herbal odor used in fragrance compounding to build sandalwood/cedar, ambery and damp‑green facets for fine fragrances, personal care, cleaners and candles; typically dosed at trace levels to round, link and extend accords due to its relatively low volatility; serves as an intermediate to synthesize more substantive derivatives such as esters/ethers (e.g., the acetate) for woody themes; may be employed at very low levels in flavor creation for foods and beverages to add woody–herbal nuances; in R&D it is used as a GC/MS reference standard, for studying geometric‑isomer separations, oxidation/biotransformation pathways and plant VOC emissions; and it is explored in chemical ecology as a plant volatile in insect–plant interaction studies and lure/repellent system development.
