Applications
Vinyl isobutyrate (CAS 2424-98-8) is primarily used as a vinyl monomer for polymerization to form poly(vinyl isobutyrate) and copolymers that serve as resins for coatings, protective paints, and adhesives, as well as for printing inks. With the isobutyrate ester group, it is commonly incorporated into plastic resin systems to improve mechanical properties and durability of coatings and may be employed in UV-curable or solvent-borne formulations. It also serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of specialty polymers and can act as a reactive monomer in adhesive and sealant applications. Its use is subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
