Vetivalene (CAS 53838-13-4) is a woody, dry, warm vetiver–amber fragrance ingredient used to build the backbone of fine fragrances and functional scents; it boosts diffusion and longevity, enriches woody, fougère, chypre and oriental accords, and can substitute or reinforce natural vetiver while blending well with citrus, aromatics, spices, white florals, balsams and musks; perfumers use Vetivalene to add earthy depth, crisp dryness and a modern clean-woody signature in masculine and unisex perfumes, aftershaves and body sprays, and to bring refined warmth to lotions, shower gels, shampoos, bar and liquid soaps; in home and fabric care it provides a durable woody note on textiles and surfaces in detergents, fabric softeners, air care, multi-purpose cleaners, closet fresheners, candles and reed diffusers, bridging bright top notes with musky–amber bases; typical use ranges from trace to a few percent depending on application and IFRA limits, it is soluble in alcohol and perfume oils, and not intended for flavor use.
