  • Applications

Undecylenic acid (CAS 112-38-9) is an eleven-carbon unsaturated fatty acid prized for its potent antifungal activity, making it a common ingredient in topical pharmaceuticals for ringworm, athlete’s foot and other dermatomycoses; beyond medicine it serves as a natural deodorizing agent in cosmetics, a surface-modifying additive that enhances polymer adhesion, a precursor for flavor-fragrance synthesis, a monomer for nylon-11, an intermediate for plasticizers, bio-lubricants and corrosion inhibitors, an insect pheromone component, and an antimicrobial additive in coatings, thanks to its broad biocidal spectrum, mild odor and renewable castor-oil origin.
