  • Applications

Thujyl alcohol (CAS 21653-20-3) is a perfumery-grade monoterpenoid alcohol used mainly as a fragrance ingredient and odor modifier, imparting herbal–woody, camphoraceous, cool minty nuances that brighten citrus, fougère, chypre, and green accords; it is employed at low levels in flavors to add herbaceous/minty notes, to mask technical off-odors and boost diffusion in personal, home, and fabric care products; it serves as a convenient intermediate to make aroma esters (e.g., thujyl acetate); and it is used as a reference/marker in essential-oil analysis (some Cupressaceae and Asteraceae species) and in studies of monoterpene bioactivity (antimicrobial, insect-repellent), subject to applicable safety and IFRA/food-flavor regulations.
