Applications
Tetramethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide used in a range of consumer and professional pest-control formulations. In household products it appears in aerosol sprays, foggers, and surface sprays to control flying and crawling insects such as mosquitoes, ants, cockroaches, and flies. In agriculture and horticulture it is formulated for greenhouse and field crop protection against pests (aphids, caterpillars, and other nuisances) either as standalone products or in combination with synergists such as piperonyl butoxide. In public health and vector-control programs, tetramethrin-containing formulations may be used in targeted indoor applications to reduce nuisance insects. In stored-product protection, it is included in formulations for protecting grains, cereals, and stored commodities from beetles and moths. It can function as a synergized component in multi-active pest-control products to improve efficacy, and is typically used subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
