Applications
Sorbitan, tritetradecanoate (CAS 80032-90-2) is a nonionic surfactant/emulsifier derived from sorbitan and tetradecanoic acid. In practice it is used as an emulsifier and stabilizer in cosmetics and personal care formulations (creams, lotions, oil–water emulsions); it is employed in food processing as an emulsifier and texture/stability aid for oil–water systems; in household and cleaning products as a surfactant to improve cleaning efficacy and pigment dispersion; in coatings and inks as a dispersing/emulsifying additive for pigments and binders; and in pharmaceutical formulations as a solubilizer and emulsifier to enhance drug dispersion and compatibility.
