Sorbitan, monotetradecanoate is used as a nonionic surfactant and emulsifier in a range of formulations. Applications include emulsification and stabilization of oil-in-water emulsions in cosmetics and personal care (creams, lotions, cleansers); emulsification in food processing where permitted by regulation; as a surface-active agent and dispersant in household cleaning products and detergents; dispersion and flow improvement for pigments in coatings and inks; processing aid and compatibilizer in polymer and plastics formulations; and as an emulsifier/solubilizer/excipient in pharmaceutical formulations, subject to regulatory compliance.
