    Sodium Tripolyphosphate (CAS 7758-29-4) is widely used as a water-softening builder and sequestrant in household and industrial detergents (notably laundry and dishwashing) to bind hardness ions and improve cleaning efficiency; it acts as a dispersant/deflocculant in ceramic processing and pigment/ink formulations to stabilize suspensions; in industrial cleaning, metalworking, and cooling-water applications it serves as a corrosion- and scale-inhibitor and chelating agent; in the food processing sector it may be used as a sequestrant and moisture-retention additive in processed meats, seafood, and cheeses; it also finds use in coatings and inks as a pigment dispersant and stabilizer; and in certain water-treatment contexts it helps control hardness and prevent precipitation, subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
