    Sodium Thiosulfate Pentahydrate (CAS 10102-17-7) is a versatile chemical with several industrial applications: it is used as a photographic fixer to dissolve unexposed silver halide during film and print processing; as a dechlorinating agent to neutralize residual chlorine in water treatment, drinking water, and swimming pool systems; as an analytical reagent and reducing agent in iodometric titrations and other halogen determinations; as a leaching agent in hydrometallurgy for gold and silver recovery under thiosulfate/ammonia complexation; and in pulp and paper processing to quench residual oxidants such as hypochlorite during bleaching and processing steps. It is commonly used where controlled reducing or scavenging action is required, in accordance with formulation limits and local regulations.
