  • Applications

Sodium sulfite (CAS 7757-83-7) is used as a reducing agent and antioxidant in several industrial domains: in food processing and beverage preservation (as a preservative and antioxidant that helps retain color and prevent spoilage in dried fruits and wines); in papermaking and cellulose bleaching (sulfite-based bleaching of wood pulp); in textile processing (bleaching and dyeing support using a mild reducing agent); in photography (as a preservative for developers); and as an oxygen scavenger and stabilizer in polymer formulations and coatings, as well as a corrosion-control additive in water treatment.
