Applications
Sodium ricinoleate is the sodium salt of ricinoleic acid derived from castor oil. It is commonly used as a surfactant and emulsifier in cosmetics and personal care products (cleansers, shampoos) to improve oil–water phase stability and foam. It also serves as a surfactant in household cleaning products for detergency and surface wetting. In coatings and inks, it acts as a wetting agent and dispersant to improve pigment dispersion and film formation. In industrial manufacturing, it is used as an emulsifier or stabilizer in polymer latex production and other emulsion processes, helping control viscosity and compatibility. It may be added to adhesives to improve wetting and adhesion performance. Subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
