Applications
Sodium Oleyl Sulfate (CAS 1847-55-8) is a primary anionic surfactant used as a formulation and cleaning aid in a wide range of industries. In practice it serves as the main surfactant in household and industrial cleaners and in cosmetic/personal care products such as shampoos and body washes. It also functions as an emulsifier and wetting agent in coatings, inks, and polymer formulations, supporting pigment dispersion and emulsion stabilization in paints and varnishes and in emulsion polymerization processes. In agricultural formulations, it is commonly employed as a surfactant adjuvant to improve spray coverage and leaf adhesion. It also sees use in textile processing as a wetting/emulsifying agent and in various industrial process fluids, subject to formulation limits and local regulations.
