Applications
Sodium Myristate (CAS 822-12-8) is the sodium salt of myristic acid and functions as an anionic surfactant and emulsifier. In practice it is used in household and industrial cleaning formulations as a detergent and foaming agent; in cosmetics and personal care as a mild cleansing surfactant and emulsifier in soaps, shampoos and bath products; in industrial manufacturing as an ingredient in cleaners and degreasers and as a component in the formulation of other surfactants; in polymer and plastics processing as a processing aid and emulsifier; and as an intermediate for the synthesis of other surfactants and detergents.
