    Sodium iodate (CAS 7681-55-2) is used as an oxidizing and iodinating agent in industrial organic synthesis; as an analytical reagent for iodometric titration and for generating iodine in analytical work; as a source of iodine for fortification programs in salt and animal feed within agriculture and food sectors; and as an intermediate in the synthesis of iodine-containing compounds, including some pharmaceutical or specialty chemicals.
