  • Applications

    Sodium Butyrate (CAS 156-54-7) is used primarily as a chemical intermediate and laboratory reagent, providing a source of butyrate for esterification and acylation reactions in pharmaceutical and specialty chemical manufacturing; it is also employed as a research tool in vitro as a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor to study gene expression and cell differentiation in biotech and biomedical research. In agriculture and animal nutrition, the salt is used as a feed additive or precursor to deliver butyrate to the digestive tract to support gut health.
