Applications
Sodium 1-naphthalenesulfonate, CAS 130-14-3, is used primarily as an anionic surfactant and pigment/dispersant in industrial formulations, helping pigment dispersion and stabilizing color in coatings, inks, and plastics. It also serves as a chemical intermediate and processing aid in the synthesis of azo dyes and organic pigments. Owing to its wetting and dispersing properties, it acts as a processing aid and wetting agent in textile dyeing and paper processing to improve dye uptake and uniformity. It may appear in cleaning formulations as a dispersant/surfactant additive to improve soil suspension and removal. In polymer and coatings applications, it supports pigment dispersion and formulation stability in paints, coatings, and printing inks.
