Applications
Silver cyanide is primarily used as a feedstock in cyanide-based plating and finishing processes to supply silver in the form of cyanide complexes, enabling smooth, uniform silver deposition on metal substrates in electroplating and related coating applications. It also functions as an intermediate for the preparation of silver–cyanide coordination compounds and related materials that can be used in conductive coatings, inks, and specialty electronic surfaces. In analytical chemistry and inorganic synthesis, AgCN can be employed as a reagent or precursor to generate silver–cyanide species or to prepare reference materials for silver/cyanide-containing systems. In specialty coatings and surface-finishing, silver cyanide systems may be explored for controlled-release or patterning approaches under strict handling and regulatory controls.
