  • Applications

Silicic acid, ethyl ester (CAS 11099-06-2) is principally used as a silica precursor in sol–gel and surface-coating formulations, enabling silica networks that form durable protective coatings on glass, metal, and polymer substrates. It serves as a feedstock for silica in ceramic and glass manufacturing, and is employed in electronics and optics to deposit SiO2 dielectric or barrier layers by CVD/ALD. It can act as a crosslinking agent or inorganic linker in hybrid polymer coatings and adhesives, and is used to synthesize silica nanoparticles for reinforcing polymers and coatings. In addition, it supports formulation of silica sols and gels to improve hardness, chemical resistance, and thermal stability of coatings and sealants.
