Applications
Pristane is primarily used as a non-polar solvent and diluent in industrial manufacturing and formulation work (including coatings, inks, and cleaning products), as a base stock or heavy paraffinic component in lubricants and hydraulic fluids, and as a carrier oil or processing solvent in cosmetic and personal care products; it may also be blended into mineral oil formulations to adjust properties and may be evaluated as a chemical intermediate or feedstock for the production of higher hydrocarbons.
