Applications
Ponceau 4R aluminum (CAS 12227-64-4) is the aluminum lake of the azo dye Ponceau 4R and provides a stable, insoluble colorant for a range of industrial and consumer formulations. Common applications include cosmetics and personal care (colorants for lipstick, eye makeup and other products), coatings and inks (pigment for decorative paints and packaging inks), polymers and plastics (colorant for resins, films and molded parts), textiles (colorant for synthetic fibers), and food processing where permitted by regulation (lake colorant in certain foods and beverages). It may also be used in some household products as a colorant for dry formulations. The aluminum lake form offers improved color stability in dry or semi-dry systems compared with soluble dyes, subject to local regulations.
