  • Applications

Phosphorus pentoxide (CAS 1314-56-3) is a strong dehydrating agent with broad industrial use. It is widely employed as a desiccant to dry solvents, reaction media, and gas streams in chemical manufacturing and electronics fabrication. In organic synthesis it acts as a dehydration reagent, enabling formation of phosphate esters and other organophosphorus intermediates. It serves as a feedstock and precursor for producing phosphoric acid and related phosphate derivatives used in fertilizers, flame retardants, and specialty polymers. In polymer and coating chemistry it is used to drive condensation reactions by removing water, helping to form polyphosphates and phosphorus-containing linkages.
