Applications
Phosphinic acid, ammonium salt (1:1) (CAS 7803-65-8) is used as a reducing agent in electroless nickel–phosphorus plating baths to deposit hard Ni–P coatings; it can serve as a phosphorus source in flame-retardant formulations for polymers and coatings; it can function as a stabilizer or complexing agent in metal-finishing and plating bath systems; and it may act as a phosphorus source in fertilizer formulations for agriculture (as a phosphite/phosphinate).
