Applications
Palmityl 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoate is primarily used as a lipophilic antioxidant and stabilizer for fats, oils, and oil-based formulations. It acts as a heat- and light-stabilizing additive in polymers and plastics (such as polyolefins and polyesters), as well as in coatings, inks, and adhesives to curb oxidative degradation and color changes. It is also employed as an antioxidant additive in lubricants and industrial oils, and in cosmetics/personal care products to improve the oxidative stability of oil-based ingredients. Additionally, it may be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other hindered phenol antioxidants.
