  • Applications

p-Menthan-1-ol (CAS 21129-27-1) is a minty terpene alcohol used as a flavor and cooling ingredient in confectionery, chewing gum, beverages, dietary supplements, toothpastes, mouthwashes, lip care, and skin/hair care; as a deodorizing/odor-masking and freshness note in fine fragrances, deodorants, soaps, household cleaners, and air-care products; as a topical cooling and mild counterirritant component in gels/lotions, patches, rubs, cough lozenges, and inhalation products (subject to local regulations); and as an intermediate for preparing menthyl derivatives (e.g., menthyl acetate, menthyl lactate, menthyl carbonate, menthyl carbamate) used in fragrance, next-generation cooling agents, and odor carriers, as well as a chiral starting material/building block for organic synthesis and functional materials; it is also applied as a co-solvent, skin permeation enhancer, and odor masker in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and veterinary formulations, with grade, purity, and safety compliance tailored to the end use.
