Applications
p-Mentha-1,5-dien-7-ol (CAS 19876-45-0) is a p-menthane monoterpene alcohol used as an intermediate for creating flavors and fragrances in perfumes, foods and personal care (after esterification or controlled oxidation it can impart minty, herbal or citrus facets), as a model substrate for terpene transformation and green-catalysis studies (selective oxidation, epoxidation, hydrogenation, isomerization, and microbial/enzyme biotransformations), as a stereochemical building block to access pharmaceutical and agrochemical derivatives (epoxides, ketones, esters, carbamates, etc.), as an analytical reference for essential-oil quality control and GC-MS/GC-FID method development, and is investigated for typical monoterpene-alcohol bioactivities such as antimicrobial, antioxidant and insect-repellent effects in early-stage research and product formulation.
