Applications
p-Menth-2-en-7-ol (CAS 72687-68-4) is a minty–herbal monoterpenol primarily used as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances and personal care (shampoos, body washes, deodorants), oral care (toothpastes, mouthwashes), and household products (detergents, fabric softeners, cleaners, deodorizers) to impart fresh green cleanliness, reinforce top notes, and mask base odors; in fragrance formulation it helps tune mint/citrus/herbal accords, extend longevity, and improve blend stability in ethanol- or oil-based systems; additionally, its reactive alcohol group makes it a useful intermediate for synthesizing esters and other monoterpene derivatives employed in flavor and fragrance and cooling agents, while any food or beverage use (if permitted) is restricted to very low levels and contingent on compliance with applicable safety regulations and industry limits.
