Applications
Octyl acrylate is primarily used as a reactive monomer and reactive diluent in formulations for UV-curable coatings, printing inks, and adhesives, where it lowers viscosity and facilitates rapid polymerization to form flexible, durable films. It serves as a building block for acrylate polymers and soft networks, including flexible polyacrylates and hydrogels with low glass transition temperatures. It is also employed as a monomer for specialty acrylate polymers used in sealants and flexible coatings, and as a copolymerizable component to tailor performance such as elasticity and toughness in coatings and adhesives. Additionally, it can function as an intermediate in the synthesis of other acrylate monomers and materials. Subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
