Applications
2-Ethylhexyl salicylate (INCI: Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Octyl Salicylate) is an oil-soluble UVB filter widely employed in cosmetics, especially sunscreens, lotions, sprays and lip balms, where it absorbs 280-320 nm radiation to shield skin against sunburn, photo-aging and skin cancer; it also acts as an emollient that enhances spreadability, boosts water resistance, and photostabilizes complementary UVA filters like avobenzone; beyond skin care it serves as a fragrance carrier, polymer stabilizer and surface-protective additive in coatings, complying with EU, FDA and ASEAN regulations, exhibiting low irritation and high formulation compatibility, making it suitable for high-SPF systems as well as hair-care products or tropical climate preparations.
