Applications
Octadecylamine (CAS 124-30-1) is primarily used as an intermediate to prepare cationic surfactants and quaternary ammonium compounds for detergents, cleaners, and personal care applications. It is also employed as a surface-modifying agent in polymers and coatings to improve wettability and compatibility. In metal treatment and coating formulations, it can serve as a corrosion-inhibiting additive or processing aid. In adhesives and coatings, it may function as a surfactant or coupling agent to improve adhesion and dispersion. Additionally, it may be used as an intermediate in lubricant formulations as an additive to enhance lubrication properties.
