Nonynyl-3 acetate (CAS 83108-06-9) is used as a fragrance/flavor ingredient in fine fragrances, personal care, and home care products (soaps, detergents, air care, candles) to deliver fresh green and fruity nuances, add diffusion and substantivity, and adjust citrus, herbal, and ozonic accords; in flavor applications it can be dosed at trace levels in beverages, confections, and baked goods to impart a clean, juicy freshness where regulations permit; additionally, it serves as a reference/internal standard for GC/GC–MS, supports research on aroma release and microencapsulation, is employed in stability and material-compatibility testing (plastics, elastomers) due to moderate hydrophobicity, and functions as an intermediate toward related esters/derivatives in R&D, with selection of appropriate grade and compliance with IFRA/food-safety guidelines being essential.
