Applications
Naphthalen-1-ethanol (CAS 773-99-9) is mainly used as an aromatic intermediate and fragrance ingredient. In perfumery and cosmetics, its naphthyl moiety provides woody, balsamic notes and it can act as a scent component or fixative in complex formulations. It is also a synthetic intermediate for preparing naphthyl-containing dyes and pigments, and as a reactive polyol for polyurethane and other polymer systems, enabling crosslinking or chain extension. In coatings and inks, it can serve as a resin precursor or additive in specialty formulations. In industrial manufacturing, it is employed as a building block for subsequent chemical syntheses of diverse specialty chemicals. Subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
