Applications
Myrtanol (CAS 514-99-8) is a monoterpenoid alcohol with piney, resinous, fresh-herbal facets, widely used as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances, soaps, detergents, fabric care, household cleaners, deodorizing products, and air care (candles, sprays), where it boosts freshness, diffusion, and naturality in coniferous–herbal–camphoraceous accords and fine-tunes citrus, lavender, and marine notes; at very low levels it may also be applied as a flavoring to impart pine/minty/citrus-peel nuances (subject to local regulations); it serves as a key intermediate for producing fragrance esters such as myrtanyl acetate and other terpenoid derivatives, and for odor masking in technical products; it is generally compatible with alcohols and oils, sparingly soluble in water, and should be evaluated for stability against oxidation/light with IFRA guidance observed for cosmetic/fragrance use.
