  • Applications

Methyl decanoate (CAS 110-42-9) is a long-chain fatty acid ester widely employed as a biodiesel surrogate in diesel combustion studies, a coconut-lactone-like flavour in food formulations, a fragrance component in perfumes and cosmetics, a non-polar solvent for essential-oil extraction, a carrier for neat aroma standards in GC-MS, a light lubricant and plasticizer for polymers, and an intermediate in the synthesis of surfactants, bio-active agents and high-performance lubricating oils.
