  • Applications

(+)-Menthone (CAS 3391-87-5) is widely used in flavors and fragrances due to its cool minty odor: as a flavoring agent in candies, chewing gum, beverages, toothpaste, and mouthwash; as a modifier/fixative in perfumes and personal care products; to impart cooling sensation in topical gels and rubs; as an intermediate for menthol and other terpene derivatives; in essential oil blends, scented waxes, and deodorizing formulations; and it is studied as a fragrance ingredient in OTC pharmaceuticals, a natural insect repellent component, and a flavor adjunct in household cleaners, benefiting from suitable volatility, reasonable stability, and good compatibility with other terpenes.
