    Malathion (CAS 121-75-5) is an organophosphate insecticide widely used in agriculture to protect crops from a broad range of pests; it is also applied in vector-control and public health programs to reduce mosquito populations and other nuisance insects, and formulated into household and urban pest-control products such as sprays and aerosols. In livestock and companion animals, malathion is used as an external parasite control and appears in some veterinary formulations to manage external parasites on animals.
