  • Applications

Lithium hydroxystearate (CAS 7620-77-1) is the lithium salt of hydroxystearic acid and is used as a soap-based thickener and rheology modifier in oil-based systems and industrial greases. It provides thickening and rheology control for lubricating greases and industrial oils; in cosmetics and personal care, it is used as a thickener and texture stabilizer in oil-based formulations such as creams, lotions, and gels; in polymer and plastics processing, it can act as a lubricant additive and processing aid; in coatings and inks, it is employed to adjust viscosity and promote thixotropic behavior; and, depending on the formulation, it may function as a surfactant/metal soap in certain oil–water systems.
