Applications
Lead oxide (CAS 1317-36-8) is widely used as a heat stabilizer in PVC and other plastics, helping to prevent degradation during processing; as a pigment and anti-corrosion coating component in paints and primers; as a flux and colorant in glass, ceramics, and glazes to improve melt behavior, brightness, and heat resistance; as a starting material for the manufacture of lead-acid battery electrodes; and as a feedstock for lead-containing ceramics and electronic materials (for example in piezoelectric ceramics).
