Applications
Isostearyl laurdimonium chloride (CAS 220895-68-1) is a long-chain quaternary ammonium surfactant commonly used as a conditioning agent and emulsifier in cosmetic and personal care formulations. In hair care, it functions as a cationic conditioning surfactant that can improve combability and a silky feel when formulated into shampoos and conditioners; in skincare, it may serve as an emollient and surfactant in cleansers and body care products. It can act as an emulsifier or phase-stabilizer in cosmetic emulsions and as a surfactant in cleaning formulations and household products. In coatings, inks, and polymer formulations, it is used as a surface-active additive to improve wetting, pigment or filler dispersion, and stabilization of emulsions. It may also serve as an additive in textile finishing and fabric-softening formulations (subject to regulatory and formulation limits).
